Top 5 Places to See (and photograph!) Kuala Lumpur's Skyline

Is a city is only as good as its horizon? Some of the largest cities in the world have instantly recognizable horizons and Kuala Lumpur, dealing with a picturesque Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower is definitely not as bad as we think. Although there are certainly many places in town with lovely views of the city, namely the numerous the hotel bars, not to forget the viewing platform at KL Tower, let's highlight a few lesser known areas, with great views of the KL sky. So here's a mini-guide on where to go for you to see the magical skyline of our beloved Kuala Lumpur unfold before your eyes.

1) Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated
Highway

This highway, also known as AKLEH, starts eastwards from Jalan Sultan Ismail, hitting areas like the Golden Triangle and Jalan Tun Razak before ending at Taman Ampang Utama.
The WOW factor: Offers a close view
of the Twin Towers and surrounding building like Menara Ambank and the area's numerous posh apartments.
Photographer Friendliness: At your own risk, especially with all the cars speeding by at 100km/hr. the best time would be early in the morning or during peak hours when traffic is slowe. whatever it is, make sure YOU'RE NOT BEHIND THE WHEEL!

2. Kenanga Point Condominium
This condominium is located just Off Jalan Hang Tuah. To be specific, aim for Block A of this condo lot.
The WOW Factor: Recommended by photographer, Evan Hwong, the view from Block A of Kenanga Point allows views of Mid Valley Megamall, Dataran Merdeka, Menara Maybank, KL Tower, Pudu Jail, Bukit Bintang, the Twin Towers, Berjaya Times Square, Jalan Tun Razak and Ampang.
Photographer Friendliness: Gaining access w
ould be the greatest hurdle. It definitely helps to know someone staying there.

3. Jalan Bukit Pantai

The perfect spot is just down the road from Pantai Towers
The WOW Factor: Walking down the steep road from the apartments, you'll see the skyline on the horizon. It's not a close view, but great because of how it appears to be sandwiched between the area's residential houses. It offers an uncommon but beautiful view of the skyline.
Photographer Friendliness: Hard to say because unlike AKLEH, it is possible to set up your equipment on the mound. You just have to pick a time when there are very few cars because if not, you're just plain inconsiderate, blocking the road like that.

4. Apartments around Bukit Ceylon area
The best would be Bidara Apartment or Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon
The WOW Factor: Pretty good—you see the Twin Towers
, KL Tower, the Bukit Bintang area. It's pretty close to Bukit Ceylon after all.
Photographer Friendliness: The first test involves you actually gaining access to the rooftop. This pretty much depends on how well you sweet-talk the security guard.

5. Cheras Little Genting

Many have heard of this place but remain clueless as to how to get there. Try googling. there are several blogs giving good directions to here.
The WOW Factor: Very high. You get an almost bird's-eye view of Kuala Lumpur city centre, Petaling Jaya and also Genting Highlands. There are also restaurants perched on the hill where you can have dinner, overlooking the city's skyline. A romantic sight for sure, but it can get pretty crowded.
Photographer Friendliness: A nice high bird's eye view. Set up your tripod and camp out at the edge of the hill to catch the sunset, followed by the night sky. may get a little crowded at certain times.

~Happy Photo-hunting!~
